Development works stalled due to the burden of Ladki Bahin scheme, government funds misappropriated: Sanjay Shirsat's clarification
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, February 28, 2026: Shiv Sena spokesperson and MLA Sanjay Shirsat has regretfully admitted that the implementation of the Maharashtra government's 'Ladki Bahin' scheme has caused a major break in development works in the state and there is a huge drain on funds. He made this statement while speaking at a press conference organized on political and social issues in the city.
Shirsat said, "The government has had to backtrack to some extent to continue the Ladki Bahin scheme. Due to this, development projects are being delayed a little and the availability of funds has reduced." He indicated that work in other sectors is getting less priority due to the expenditure of this scheme.
Commentary on Ajit Pawar accident case: After a month of Ajit Pawar's death, various discussions are going on regarding this accident. Shirsat said, "The black box is safe and only after the DGCA report will it be clear whether it was an accident or a mishap. The government should pay serious attention to the information given by Rohit Pawar."
Reply to Uddhav Thackeray: Criticizing Uddhav Thackeray's claim regarding the post of Mumbai Mayor, Shirsat said, "Uddhav Thackeray is still in a dream. Five years will end just as the government is changing. The Mayor of Mumbai will remain ours. He himself should say when he will become the Chief Minister."
Other issues in the city were also discussed in this press conference, in which the issue of the slow pace of development works was the main one. Although this scheme is for the empowerment of women, there is an opinion in political circles that its economic impact is affecting the overall development of the state
