Deven Bharti became the first special commissioner of Mumbai Police

Specially created post, Bharti is close to Fadnavis
Mumbai 1994 batch IPS officer Deven Bharti has been appointed as Special Commissioner of Mumbai Police. For the first time, the post of Special Commissioner of Mumbai Police has been created by the Government of Maharashtra. Till now there was no such post in Mumbai Police.
The Home Department of Maharashtra appointed him as the Special Commissioner of Mumbai Police. Earlier, Deven Bharti has given his services in many departments of Maharashtra including Mumbai. He has worked as Joint Commissioner (Law and Order) of Mumbai.
IPS Deven Bharti has worked as Joint Commissioner of Police in EOW and Additional Commissioner of Police in Crime Branch. Apart from this, he has also led the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra.

Deven Bharti is considered a close officer of Devendra Fadnavis. He was the Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) during the Fadnavis government between 2014 and 2019.
