File on Development Work Goes Missing from Nagpur Municipal Corporation; Serious Allegation of Theft from Standing Committee Secretariat
Nagpur: Congress Corporator and Standing Committee member Abhijit Jha has made a serious allegation that an official file regarding approved development work has been stolen from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation's Standing Committee Secretariat. The municipal administration has decided to file a police complaint regarding this matter.
The file concerning the construction of a cement concrete road from Badi Masjid to Panchsheel Nagar (Gittikhadan) in Ward No. 14 had been received by the committee secretariat on July 7, 2026, following its approval by the Standing Committee. Upon learning that the file had not been forwarded to the concerned department for further administrative action, Abhijit Jha lodged a written complaint with Municipal Commissioner Vipin Itankar.
According to Jha, officials at the secretariat handed over the file to an individual, believing him to be a municipal employee. The name 'Shekhar Nandeshwar' was recorded in the inward-outward register for this individual. However, Jha alleges that the person's identity and authorization documents were not verified. Suspecting the direct involvement of former Congress Corporator Kamlesh Chaudhary in this matter, Jha has demanded that a case be registered immediately against the individuals involved.
Jha has also demanded an examination of CCTV footage from the Standing Committee Secretariat and the surrounding area to clarify how the file was taken and who was involved. A senior municipal official stated that a decision has been made to file an FIR with the police regarding this incident.
Jha has further demanded that accountability be fixed for the officials who failed to verify the identity and authorization of the person to whom the file was handed over.
