First session of new Parliament begins, MPs take oath on the first day

New Delhi. The first session of the new Parliament has begun today. Many MPs took oath in the 18th Lok Sabha today. First PM Modi and then the Lok Sabha members in his cabinet took oath.
The special thing about the oath taking ceremony was that many colours of localism were seen in it. MPs from Darbhanga and Madhubani, who come from Mithila region of Bihar, were seen taking oath in Maithili wearing a turban on their heads. On the other hand, many MPs from the south took oath of membership in local attire. Earlier, BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab was sworn in as the Protem Speaker by President Draupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan and after that the members of the panel formed to assist the Protem Speaker were sworn in. 5 members have been included in this panel.
Took oath with a copy of the Constitution
Some Congress MPs took oath as members of Parliament in the Lok Sabha with a copy of the Constitution in their hands. Congress MP from Ambala Varun Chaudhary took oath with a copy of the Constitution in his hand. Rakibul Hussain, who has been elected from Dhubri in Assam, also held a copy of the Constitution in his hand while taking oath as a Lok Sabha member.
Similarly, Congress MP from Lohardaga seat of Jharkhand Sukhdev Bhagat also took oath with a copy of the Constitution in his hand. Many other Congress MPs took oath as members of Parliament on Monday. These included former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Kumari Selja, Congress MP from Rohtak Deepender Hooda.
Prime Minister, Home Minister are attacking the Constitution: Rahul
In the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi surrounded the government and said that the Prime Minister, Home Minister are attacking the Constitution. This is not acceptable to us, we will not let this happen. That is why we have held the Constitution while taking oath. The message is going out. No power can touch the Constitution of India.
He said that the strong opposition of India Alliance will continue its pressure, will raise the voice of the people and will not let the Prime Minister escape without accountability.
Opposition demonstrated with a copy of the Constitution in the Parliament premises
It is worth noting that many MPs of India Alliance also demonstrated with a copy of the Constitution in the Parliament premises on Monday. Various parties of India Alliance including Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK were involved in the protest. During this, Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other opposition leaders raised slogans of 'We will protect the Constitution' and 'Long live democracy'.
Prime Minister Modi took oath first
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sworn in first as the leader of the House. After the Prime Minister, the name of Congress MP Kodikunnil Suresh was called. But, he was not present in the House. Suresh has won the Lok Sabha elections eight times. Due to this, he has also been appointed to assist the Protem Speaker. In the absence of the Protem Speaker, Suresh had to administer the oath to the new MPs.
However, Congress says that Suresh's seniority was ignored in the appointment of Protem Speaker.
