Goa Zilla Parishad Election Results 2025: BJP-MGP alliance registers a resounding victory, Congress suffers a setback, AAP also opens its account
Goa: In the elections held for a total of 50 seats in the North and South Goa Zilla Parishads, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has consolidated its power. The BJP alone won 30 seats, while its alliance partner, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), secured 2 seats. The alliance won a total of 32 seats. The Congress had to be content with 8 seats, while the Goa Forward Party, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the Revolutionary Goans Party each won 1 seat. Independent candidates secured 5 seats.
This election was considered a semi-final for the 2027 assembly elections. The people have once again shown their trust in the ruling BJP and the leadership of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated on this victory, stating that "Goa stands with good governance and progressive politics."
This victory in Goa is considered a major relief for the BJP after the local body elections in Maharashtra.
