Harassment of Women at Nashik TCS; Major Revelations Expected from Accused's Mobile Phones
Nashik – A court has remanded two prime accused to police custody in a case involving allegations of persistent sexual harassment, molestation, obscene remarks, interference in private lives, and hurting religious sentiments directed at female employees of the multinational company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), over the past four years.
The Nashik District Court has sentenced Shafi Shaikh (31) and Raza Memon (35) to police custody until April 18, 2026. According to the complaint, Shafi Shaikh had made a romantic overture to the victim, while Raza Memon had passed obscene comments regarding her body. Both are alleged to have frequently made unwanted physical contact with the victim and engaged in discussions concerning her private life.
A total of seven offenses have been registered against these two individuals—four against Shafi Shaikh and three against Raza Memon. The police have seized the mobile phones of both accused. Public Prosecutor Kiran Bendbhar submitted to the court, "Although the modus operandi of the suspects is similar, the victims involved are different. The timeframes and specific facts of the offenses vary. The examination of their mobile phones could potentially uncover additional crimes or reveal the involvement of other suspects. Therefore, police custody should be granted without extending any leniency."
The defense counsel had requested that all the offenses be investigated jointly; however, after hearing arguments from both sides, the court remanded both accused to police custody until April 18.
In this case, a total of nine offenses have been registered, and eight individuals have been arrested so far. These include Danish Shaikh, Taufeeq Attar, Shahrukh Hussain Qureshi, Asif Ansari, and Ashwini Chainani (51, Pune). One accused, Nida Khan, remains at large.
TCS has stated that it has suspended the accused individuals involved in this case and has taken appropriate action in accordance with its zero-tolerance policy. The police investigation is underway, and further revelations in the case are likely based on the evidence obtained from mobile phones.
