Heatwave Warning Issued for the District

Nagpur, April 16: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for a heatwave in Nagpur district for April 18. During this period, there is a forecast of a heatwave occurring in certain areas. To ensure that the heat does not adversely affect the health of citizens, the District Administration is appealing to the public to take necessary precautions.
Avoid venturing outdoors during the intense heat, particularly between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Ensure you drink adequate amounts of water; cultivate the habit of drinking water every half hour, even if you do not feel thirsty. When stepping out, use an umbrella, a hat, or a white scarf/dupatta to cover your head. Utilize curtains and shutters within your home to shield against direct sunlight. Wear light, thin, breathable, and light-colored clothing made of cotton or Khadi fabric. Carry a sufficient supply of drinking water with you while traveling or at your workplace. If you experience signs of dehydration, consume fluids such as ORS, lemon water, buttermilk, or lassi. To keep your home cool, utilize curtains, shutters, and sunshades; additionally, keep windows open during the night. Make appropriate use of coolers, fans, or air conditioning (AC) systems within your home. Employers should instruct workers to avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Special care should be taken regarding pregnant women, the elderly, sick individuals, and young children. Avoid consuming stale food. When working outdoors in the sun, cover your face and head with a wet cloth. As far as possible, avoid engaging in strenuous physical labor between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. If you experience dizziness or begin to feel unwell, seek immediate medical advice. Pets and livestock should be kept in the shade and provided with adequate water. One should avoid consuming high-protein foods and stale meals. Furthermore, the consumption of alcohol, tea, coffee, and carbonated beverages during the afternoon hours should be avoided.
Any individual suffering from heatstroke should be immediately admitted to a nearby health center or hospital to commence treatment. The District Administration appeals to all citizens to adhere to the aforementioned guidelines and take proper care of themselves and their families.
