Hindenburg report is an attempt to harm India's economic freedom: Mahesh Jethmalani

New Delhi: India's senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani has termed the latest claims made by American shortseller Hindenburg Research as 'baseless' and said that Hindenburg's allegations were an attempt to spoil India's market in the past, and still are. Mahesh Jethmalani also clearly said that Hindenburg Research is in cahoots with the enemies of the country, and is working at the behest of Mark Kingdon and his wife Anla Chang.
In a conversation with NDTV, Mahesh Jethmalani clearly said, "Even after getting a complete clean chit from DRI, the same allegations have been repeated... This is just an attempt by Hindenburg to avoid responding to SEBI's show cause notice, which was sent to Hindenburg... SEBI had been ordered to conduct this investigation by the Supreme Court to protect the interests of retail investors..."
Mahesh Jethmalani said, "Instead of responding to SEBI's notice, Hindenburg started making allegations against the SEBI chief, which are completely baseless... Even before this, Hindenburg had released the previous report with the aim of spoiling the impact of India's budget and spoiling the market, apart from earning profits... This time too, the report has been released around the budget, so, this is an attempt to push India's economic freedom..."
The well-known lawyer claimed that all of them are in cahoots with the enemies of the country, because Hindenburg was assigned this task by Mark Kingdon and his wife Anla Chang Mahesh Jethmalani again said, "The US Parliament itself is investigating very serious allegations against Chinese-American citizen Enla Chang..."
Adani Group rejects Hindenburg's allegations
Meanwhile, the Adani Group has completely rejected the new allegations leveled by American shortseller Hindenburg Research, calling them 'malicious'. In an exchange filing, the Adani Group has clearly stated that the group has no business relationship with the SEBI chief or her husband.
Note that last month, the Securities and Exchange Board of India, i.e. SEBI, had sent a show cause notice to Hindenburg and its owner Nathan Anderson, accusing them of violating the Prevention of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices Regulations and SEBI's Code of Conduct for Research Analyst Regulations under the SEBI Act.
