Hold the State Election Commissioner responsible for the chaos in local elections: Nana Patole
Nagpur, December 10, 2025 – During the winter session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, senior Congress leader and former president Nana Patole created a stir by demanding the removal of the State Election Commissioner from his post. Patole made this demand, holding the Commissioner responsible for the confusion and chaos created by the last-minute decision to postpone voting in the municipal council and nagar panchayat elections.

The Speaker clarified that the process of removing the State Election Commissioner is outside the jurisdiction of the Legislative Assembly and is similar to the impeachment of a High Court judge.
