Nagpur, Dt. 17: The Election Commission of India has prescribed procedures for exercising their right to vote among senior citizens including citizens who are above 85 years of age and disabled voters and employee voters appointed on election duty. In order that no voter should be deprived of his right in these assembly general elections, the benefit of home voting is being made available to the voters who are above 85 years of age and with disabilities, District Election Officer and Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar said.
He was speaking in a meeting organized with the aim that the election process should be carried out strictly in all assembly constituencies of Nagpur district. The Election Decision Officer of the Vidhan Sabha Constituency of the district was present in this meeting.
He instructed to make the sample 12-d immediately available for home polling. Along with this, he instructed the disabled and senior citizens to take care of making the election process easier. He asked to take more vigilance to ensure that all BLOs of 12th Form reach the eligible voters in their area carefully.
The Election Commission of India has provided the facility of postal voting for the officers and employees on duty for various responsibilities of election work. For this, the concerned authorities should take care to verify those who have applied for sample 12 and get the ballot papers within the given time frame. Since this number is more, he directed that proper coordination should be done regarding the exchange of ballot papers as per the given procedure. He said that Form 12 and Form 12-A are being made available through the NIC for polling staff who want to vote through postal ballot and also through Certificate for Election Duty respectively. He clarified that if there is a problem while doing all these processes, the District Information Science Officer will remove those problems.
Emphasis on maintaining law and order
Strict inspection should be done at all the boundaries of the district. In any case, Dr. Dr. Vipin Itankar said. The enforcement system plays a major role in maintaining law and order in the district during the election period. A meeting of senior officials related to this system was held today in the Collectorate office under the chairmanship of the Collector.
