Mumbai: Business and actress Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra was on Monday arrested by the Crime Branch on charges of making pornographic films. According to the Mumbai Police, the crime branch had raided a bungalow in Madh area in February and arrested a gang involved in making pornographic films. The film was being released through various social media. Kundra is the main accused in the case and the Mumbai police have claimed that there is enough evidence against him. If convicted, Raj Kundra could face imprisonment.

 
A team of Mumbai police raided the Green Park bungalow in Madh in February. The action was taken after information was received that pornographic shooting was taking place here. Police had arrested five people at the time. So a girl was released. The five arrested include two actors and two young women. Both these young women had come to try their luck in the field of acting. However, she fell into the trap of a production house that made pornographic videos. An investigation into the matter was launched after this major action.
India has strict laws against pornography. The filing of such cases involves various sections of the IPC along with the Information Technology Act. The law has also been amended to address rapid changes in technology and its adverse effects on human life.

Making pornographic videos is also a crime, and watching child pornography is also a crime. If found guilty in this case, punishment has been provided under Section 67 (a) of the Revised Information Technology Act 2008 and Sections 292, 293, 294, 500, 506 and 509 of the Penal Code. The convict, convicted for the first time in the case, faces up to five years in jail or a fine of Rs 10 lakh. There is a provision of 7 years imprisonment for the second offense.
