Jantar Mantar Lathi-charge Incident: Amit Shah Challenges Opposition – "Submit a letter by 2 PM, we’ll start the discussion at 3 PM; I will answer all questions tomorrow."

Opposition parties have been demanding a discussion on this issue. Against this backdrop, Union Home Minister Amit Shah clearly stated the government's position in Parliament on Tuesday (August 12).
Amit Shah said, "I am ready for a discussion. The opposition should submit a letter to the Speaker by 2 PM today. The discussion can then begin at 3 PM. I will provide answers to all questions by 3 PM tomorrow."
He emphasized parliamentary procedures and rules. "A discussion of this nature cannot take place haphazardly on such a serious subject. Issues are discussed thoroughly in Parliament. The opposition should hold the discussion starting this afternoon. They can sit and discuss for as long as necessary, even late into the night. If the Speaker permits, I am even prepared to suspend tomorrow's Question Hour. I will sit through it myself, listen to everything, and answer all questions. It is essential that the truth comes before the country," Shah stated.
Directly challenging the opposition, he added, "Now, the opposition must decide whether they want to create a ruckus in the House or engage in a discussion."
Earlier, MPs from the ruling NDA and the opposition INDIA alliance had engaged in a face-off involving slogan-shouting inside the Parliament building. Protests were held by both sides regarding the agitation in Jharkhand and the issue of theft of Ram Mandir donations in Ayodhya. NDA MPs accused Rahul Gandhi of shying away from a discussion on the student protest, while Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi took a dig at the ruling party, noting that it was the first time the ruling party itself was staging a protest.
