Kolhapur Resounds Over Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway; Farmers Turn Aggressive, Satej Patil Comments...

Kolhapur: Opposition continues unabated in Kolhapur against the state government's ambitious 'Shaktipeeth Expressway' project, proposed to connect Nagpur and Goa. Today, farmers have once again launched a massive agitation to voice their protest against this highway.
The farmers contend that the construction of this highway will result in the large-scale acquisition of their agricultural lands, thereby jeopardizing their livelihoods and future. The farmers' resentment remains undiminished regarding this project, which has already been the subject of numerous protests in the past.
Congress leader and former minister Satej Patil took sharp aim at the government over this issue. He stated, "By completely disregarding the interests of the farmers, the government is merely indulging in fantasies about its 'dream project.' Instead of seizing farmers' lands and destroying their lives, the government should engage in dialogue with them and ensure they receive justice."
Although the Shaktipeeth Expressway is regarded as a flagship tourism and development initiative of the state government, the project's progress is facing hurdles in several districts—including Kolhapur—due to opposition from the farming community.
The government has not yet issued any official response regarding this latest wave of protests.
