Maharashtra Board of Education takes strict action against copying cases during SSC-HSC exams

81 employees suspended in mass copying case, misuse of ChatGPT exposed
Mumbai, March 10, 2026 – The Maharashtra State Board of Education has taken strict action against copying cases that took place during the 10th (SSC) and 12th (HSC) exams. A total of 81 teachers and employees have been suspended due to mass copying incidents revealed through CCTV footage at various examination centers across the state. Apart from this, a shocking case of 10 dummy students has also come to light in Solapur district, and strict action has also been taken against them. In particular, it has been revealed that teachers at a center in Gadchiroli district encouraged students to copy with the help of ChatGPT, which has raised questions about the integrity of the examination.
During the examination period, instances of copying occurred at many centers in the state, which came to light with evidence due to the CCTV system. The Board of Education took immediate steps due to these incidents. The maximum number of 17 employees have been suspended at the Chausala center in Beed district. A case has been registered against 24 people in a copying case at a center in Kannada taluka of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) district. Five teachers were suspended in Jalna district, while in the case in Gadchiroli, a case has been registered against three teachers and a constable and immediate suspension action has been taken.
It was revealed that 10 dummy students were present during the 10th standard Marathi subject examination at a center in Mangalwedha in Solapur district. These students and the responsible persons have been identified and action has been taken. The superintendent of the state education board said, "We will not give any kind of slack to maintain the transparency of the examination. These activities will stop such incidents in the future."
These activities are expressing satisfaction among students and parents, and a big message of reform in the education system has been sent. The board has warned to increase CCTV surveillance at all centers and prevent excessive use of technology.
