Maharashtra leaders in Delhi! 7 MPs win 'Sansad Ratna' award

Sansad Ratna Award 2025 Delhi: The Sansad Ratna Award ceremony, which is given to Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members for their outstanding parliamentary performance, was held in the capital Delhi in the presence of Parliamentary Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on behalf of Prime Foundation. This award was given to 17 MPs and two parliamentary standing committees of the country. In which seven MPs from Maharashtra have won.


The jury committee headed by National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) Chairman Hansraj Gangaram Ahir has evaluated the work of these MPs and announced this award. This year, 17 MPs will be awarded the award and the jury committee has announced four special awards in this year's award.


These awards will be given for "outstanding and consistent contribution to parliamentary democracy" made by MPs. The MPs who have performed best in the tenure of the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha and their performance has also been the best in the 18th Lok Sabha... This award has been announced for such MPs.

Annadurai and BJP MP Dilip Saikia have been announced. State-wise, this year 7 MPs from Maharashtra have received the award and 2 MPs each from Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Rajasthan have received the Sansad Ratna award. One MP each from Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam has received the Sansad Ratna award.


The standing committees have been selected based on the reports presented in Parliament. The Standing Committee on Finance, Chairman Bhartrihari Mahtab (BJP, Odisha) and the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Chairman Dr. Charanjit Singh Channi (Indian National Congress, Punjab) have been announced.


What is Prime Foundation?


Prime Point Foundation, an NGO established in the year 1999, was advised by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam about the Sansad Ratna award. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Since 2010, the Sansad Ratna Award has been given to members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for their outstanding performance. The Sansad Ratna Award is given every year. The Sansad Maharatna Award is given once in five years.


Many members like Union Ministers, former Joint Directors of the Election Commission recommend names for this award. It is considered a kind of civic honour. These awards are given for participation in the proceedings of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, questions raised, proposals moved, presence in Parliament and overall performance.
