Mumbai Local's dream: Comfortable environment of Metro, but ticket prices will not increase!
Mumbai, November 24, 2025: The crowding and hassle in the coaches of Mumbaikars is about to end. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today made a big promise to make Mumbai local trains as beautiful and comfortable as the Metro. "Mumbais will be given beautiful local trains like the Metro, there will be a big change in this soon," he said. Speaking about this, he also made an important announcement regarding ticket prices - second class fares will not increase!
Fadnavis said that all local train coaches will be air-conditioned. Apart from this, the problem of sticking to the coaches will end as all the doors will close automatically. "Mumbai local is the identity of true Mumbaikars. 90 lakh people travel in this train every day. We are taking concrete steps to reduce this crowding and make the journey comfortable," he mentioned.
Importantly, the second class ticket prices for air-conditioned coaches will remain the same. Fadnavis reassured Mumbaikars by clarifying, "Ticket prices will not be increased, it will not be heavy on the pockets of Mumbaikars." He said that this change will happen in the next 5 to 7 years. These projects will be implemented with the joint efforts of the central and state governments under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project. Apart from this, other infrastructure facilities like Coastal Road and Sea Link will also get a boost.
This announcement is a joy for Mumbaikars. Commuters who have been suffering from congestion for years will now get the facility of Metro in local trains. With this statement of Fadnavis, the journey of Mumbai's rail travel has taken a new turn.
