Mumbai Municipal Corporation Election Results Live: MahaYuti crosses half the seats, AIMIM also in a strong position

Mumbai, January 16, 2026: The results of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections are being declared today, and according to initial trends, the BJP is leading in 23 seats. Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) is leading in 10 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) in 17 seats, AIMIM in 3 seats, Congress in 6 seats, Samajwadi Party in 1 seat, MNS in 1 seat, and NCP in 1 seat. Voting for a total of 227 seats took place on January 15, and the counting process is underway.
According to official BMC figures, based on the counting of EVMs and postal ballots, BJP is leading in 8 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) in 6 seats, Shiv Sena (Shinde) in 5 seats, Congress in 3 seats, MNS in 2 seats, AIMIM in 2 seats, and NOTA in 1 seat. The BJP and Shiv Sena together are in a strong position, having crossed half the seats.
So far, winning candidates have been declared in two wards. In Ward 1, Rekha Ram Yadav of Shiv Sena (Shinde) won with 7,544 votes. In Ward 183 (Dharavi), Asha Deepak Kale of Congress defeated Vaishali Shewale of Shiv Sena (Shinde) by a margin of 1,450 votes, securing 5,406 votes.

Ward 103 (Mulund): BJP's Hetal Gala Marvekar won with 17,334 votes; MNS's Deepti Panchal received 5,205 votes and Congress's Manisha Sonawane received 3,786 votes.
Ward 2 (Dahisar): BJP's Tejasvi Ghosalkar wins.
Ward 214 (Tardeo): BJP's Ajay Patil won with 8,759 votes.
Ward 215: BJP's Santosh Dale wins.
The BJP is also showing a strong position in other municipal corporations in Maharashtra. It is leading in 100 seats in Nagpur, 42 seats in Jalgaon, and 22 seats in Nashik. Mumbai Police have maintained strict security arrangements outside the counting centers.
