NEET Paper Leak Scam: CBI Arrests 5, Conducts Nationwide Raids; Doctors Demand Replacement of NTA
New Delhi/Jaipur: The CBI has taken significant action in the NEET-UG examination paper leak case. In connection with this matter, the CBI has arrested five individuals and conducted raids at various locations across the country.
The CBI arrested five individuals: Mangilal Biwal, Vikas Biwal, and Dinesh Biwal from Jaipur; Yash Yadav from Gurugram; and Shubham Khairnar from Nashik. Several digital devices, including mobile phones and laptops, have been seized from the suspects. The CBI also visited the NTA headquarters and took possession of relevant documents.
The Federation of All India Medical Associations has filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding this case, demanding a complete overhaul of the NTA and the establishment of a technologically advanced and autonomous body to replace it.
Political allegations and counter-allegations have also begun to surface in connection with this case. The Congress and the Trinamool Congress have claimed that some of the arrested suspects have links to the BJP.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education had severely criticized the NTA's functioning six months ago. It is being alleged that the current paper leak incident occurred because, despite that criticism, no improvements were implemented. Information has also emerged indicating that "guess papers" were widely distributed among students even before the examination took place.
Students' and doctors' associations are expressing intense dissatisfaction with the NTA. The CBI has stated that the investigation into this matter is proceeding rapidly.
