Prayag Manjhi: A Naxalite carrying a bounty of Rs 1 crore was killed in an encounter between CRPF's Cobra commando-police and Naxalites in Jharkhand's Bokaro district on Monday morning. Apart from this, seven more Naxalites have also been eliminated. The security forces have recovered one AK series rifle, three INSAS rifles, one self-loading rifle, 8 guns and a pistol from the spot.
Prayag Manjhi alias Vivek Da, who joined Naxalism in the 80s, was killed in an encounter between CRPF's Cobra commando-police and Naxalites. Prayag Manjhi was a resident of Dalbudha village in Dhanbad district. Prayag was active in the Parasnath and Jhumra hill areas. Apart from this, his network had also spread to states like Chhattisgarh, Bihar and West Bengal.
Prayag Manjhi, a member of the Central Committee of the CPI-Maoist organization, was given the responsibility of Parasnath and Jhumra mountain areas in 2023. After the arrest of Prashant Bose, a member of this group and a Naxalite with a bounty of one crore, Misir Besra took over the responsibility of Parasnath. Prayag Manjhi's wife Jaya Manjhi died seven months ago on December 21, 2024, during treatment at RIMS. She was suffering from gall bladder cancer. Naxalite Jaya Manjhi, who had a bounty of 25 lakhs, was arrested by Girihid police from a private hospital in Dhanbad on July 16, 2024. She was undergoing treatment here after changing her name.
Jaya Manjhi was a prominent member of the women's wing of the CPI-Maoist organization and was looking after the work of this wing. However, due to illness, she had gone underground and was secretly receiving treatment at a Dhanbad hospital. However, the police received a tip-off about this and after which she was arrested.
