Nitin Gadkari lashes out at social media influencers after *Jal-Pujan* (water worship ritual) at Ambazari Lake; "Criticism follows whether work is done or not."
Nagpur: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed strong displeasure with social media influencers while speaking to reporters on Sunday after performing the *Jal-Pujan* ceremony at Ambazari Lake. He was upset over defamatory content circulated by certain social media accounts and YouTube videos regarding the E-20 petrol policy. He stated clearly, "They criticize if work is done, and they criticize if it isn't. Therefore, instead of paying attention to them, the focus should remain on work that benefits the city."
Gadkari performed the ritual alongside Mayor Nita Thakre as Ambazari Lake was on the verge of being cleared of the water hyacinth infestation; he also enjoyed a boat ride afterwards. Dignitaries present included MP Maya Ivnate; MLAs Krishna Khopde, Parinay Fuke, and Sanjay Bhende; Deputy Mayor Leela Hathibed; Standing Committee Chairperson Shivani Dani; Ruling Party Leader Balya Borkar; former MLA Prof. Anil Sole; Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar; and District Collector Kumar Ashirwad.
Gadkari urged the MIDC and Wadi Municipal Council to take precautions to prevent polluted water from flowing into Ambazari Lake. He warned that action would be taken if pollution persisted despite repeated instructions. He directed the administration to obtain a report on the BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) levels of the water entering the lake, conducted through NEERI.
He proposed a future vision to accelerate the Nag River project, enabling boat travel from Ambazari all the way to Ambhora. He also spoke of the possibility of transforming Nagpur into a tourism hub by connecting it with Ambhora and Seoni (Madhya Pradesh) via seaplanes. Additionally, he shared ideas for developing water sports and introducing hovercrafts in the Ambazari area. He noted that since a hovercraft operates at a height of one and a half feet above the water's surface, adventure water sports could be developed while ensuring safety.
