Non-bailable arrest warrant against former CM Yeddyurappa

Bengaluru. Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa's troubles are increasing in the case registered under the 'Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses' (POCSO) Act. According to the report, a Bengaluru court on Thursday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against former Karnataka Chief Minister Yeddyurappa in a POCSO case.
The warrant has been issued by the court at a time when just a few hours ago Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara said on Thursday that the Crime Investigation Department (CID), which is investigating the case against Yeddyurappa under the POCSO Act, has issued a notice to him to appear for questioning and if needed, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader can also be arrested.
What is the whole matter?
According to the police, a case has been registered against Yeddyurappa under POCSO and Section 354 A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code based on the complaint of the mother of a 17-year-old girl. In the complaint, the woman alleged that Yeddyurappa sexually assaulted her daughter on February 2 this year when she met him at his residence in Dollar Colony here.
On March 14, just hours after the case was registered at the Sadashivanagar police station, Karnataka Director General of Police Alok Mohan issued an order handing over the case to the CID for investigation with immediate effect. The 54-year-old woman who made the allegations against Yeddyurappa died of lung cancer in a private hospital here last month.
Charges dismissed
Yeddyurappa (81) has rejected the allegations and said he will fight the case legally. He has requested the court to quash the FIR.
