He highlighted major achievements of the past 12 years, reiterated the resolve to transform India into a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047, and presented a roadmap of the government's priorities for the next five years.
PM Modi noted that while India was once counted among the ‘Fragile Five,’ it has now emerged as the world's fastest-growing major economy. Over the last 12 years, approximately 25 crore (250 million) people have been lifted out of poverty.
Key achievements over the last 12 years:
Defense production increased nearly 4-fold.
Khadi and village industries grew nearly 5-fold.
Electronics manufacturing increased nearly 7-fold.
Production of modern railway coaches rose 21-fold.
Mobile phone production increased 33-fold.
The number of internet users grew nearly 4-fold.
Patent approvals increased 4-fold.
Digital transactions surged 100-fold.
Solar energy capacity rose from 2 GW to 160 GW.
Piped gas service expanded from 70 cities to 700 cities.
PM Modi emphasized self-reliance. India has launched three semiconductor plants, with another 5 to 8 expected to commence operations in the coming years. He stated that special focus would be placed on sectors such as manufacturing, technology, defense, energy, and the green economy in the next phase.
In his speech, he referred to the concept of ‘Saptadhara’ (seven forces) to achieve the goal of a developed India by 2047. This encompasses manufacturing, agriculture and food processing, technology and innovation, Gati Shakti, defence capabilities, the green and blue economy, as well as India's soft power.
