Police mild lathi charge in Vaijapur city of Sambhajinagar

Vaijapur, May 6, 2025 - Police had to resort to mild lathi charge during a protest this afternoon in Vaijapur city of Sambhajinagar district. Local citizens protested on the main road against accidents caused by potholes on the road. The protesters blocked the road and raised strong slogans against the administration.
At this time, the police first tried to persuade them to end the protest peacefully. However, as soon as the situation seemed to be getting out of control, the police dispersed the crowd by resorting to mild lathi charge. No one is known to have been seriously injured in the incident.
Inspector Rahul Patil of Vaijapur Police Station said, "The protesters were asked to express their views peacefully, but the blocking of the road caused traffic congestion. Therefore, this lathi charge had to be resorted to to maintain law and order."
Local citizens have accused the administration of neglecting the repair of roads. In this regard, the Chief Officer of the Municipal Council, Sanjay Patil, has assured that the work of repairing the roads will be taken up soon. Meanwhile, the police have deployed additional reinforcements to defuse the tense atmosphere in the city.
