Pulwama Attack Mastermind Hamza Burhan Shot Dead in Muzaffarabad
New Delhi / Muzaffarabad (Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir): Shocking reports have emerged stating that Arjumand Gulzar Dar—alias Hamza Burhan, alias 'Doctor'—the key mastermind behind the Pulwama terrorist attack, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Having sustained multiple gunshot wounds, he died on the spot.
The Government of India had officially designated Hamza Burhan as a terrorist in 2022. A resident of Ratnipora in Pulwama, Hamza had informed his family in 2017 that he was traveling to Pakistan to pursue higher education. However, he subsequently became affiliated with the banned terrorist organization, Al-Badr.
**Involved in Radicalizing Youth**
After joining Al-Badr, Hamza returned to Kashmir and became active across South Kashmir. His primary objective was to radicalize young people and recruit them into terrorist organizations. According to security agencies, he had expanded his terrorist network across the region, stretching from Pulwama to Shopian. He was considered a crucial link for terrorist groups operating out of Pakistan.
**Rise in Attacks on Terrorists in Pakistan**
Hamza's assassination marks yet another incident in the growing series of suspicious attacks targeting terrorist leaders within Pakistan. Prior to this, several senior leaders associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed have also been targeted in similar attacks.
