Kerala: Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has stated that the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process proved extremely useful for the Congress party in securing power during the Kerala Assembly elections. A video of his statement is currently going viral on social media, and against this backdrop, the BJP has criticized Rahul Gandhi.
Sharing the old video of Chennithala, BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari noted that the Kerala Congress had previously praised the SIR process. According to Chennithala, the SIR process helped eliminate bogus voters and prevented votes being cast in the names of deceased individuals, thereby aiding the Congress in winning the Kerala Assembly elections.
Chennithala had explained that the Congress organization has strong grassroots roots. He mentioned that bogus votes used to be cast during the CPM's tenure, but the SIR process put a stop to this practice.
However, the BJP argues that this statement by a Congress leader contradicts Rahul Gandhi's current stance, given that he has taken a position against the Election Commission. Bhandari remarked, "The Congress party itself has exposed the reality regarding Rahul Gandhi's stance on the SIR process. No one among the public trusts him—not even the Congress party itself."
