Sanjay Bansode will implement 'Mission Lakshyavedh' to improve the international performance of players

Nagpur, Dt. 16: The sports department has taken up a planned action program to continuously raise the performance of sportspersons in the state. National Sports Competitions and Khelo India, International Olympic Sports Competitions have been prepared with athlete and competition centric “Mission Targeting” plan. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Sanjay Bansode said that the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Sports Department and Mission Lakshyavedh is an ambitious plan to be implemented.
Speaking to the media in Nagpur, he gave this information. An agreement will be signed with a national and international organization that is performing extremely well in the field of sports and the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services will be converted into the Maharashtra Sports Authority for the supervision of this scheme, Sports Minister Sanjay Bansode said.
Mission Targeting
In the first phase, 12 sports have been fixed and these include athletics, badminton, boxing, weightlifting, hockey, wrestling, archery, shooting, rowing, sailing, lawn tennis and table tennis. High performance centers for these games will be started at various places in the state. Also, 37 sports excellence centers will be established at the divisional level and 138 sports talent development centers at the district level. After preparing the district development plan, 10 percent of the funds will be reserved for the sports development plan. A state-of-the-art Sports Science Center will be established at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune. Also, a counseling center will be established for the players at the divisional and district level. Through it, the players will be informed about the career opportunities.
160 crore fund for mission targeting
The tournament will be organized in selected 12 sports. 160 crores will be made available. Also, for training centers and other facilities, an expenditure of approximately 55 crores at the district level, 55 crores at the divisional level and 50 crores at the state level is expected.
Arrangement of up-to-date sports training for 3740 athletes
138 sports talent development centers will be established at the district level. At the same time, a total of 37 Sports Excellence Centers will be established at the Divisional Headquarters as per the above criteria. Similarly, 12 High Performance Centers will be established at the state level. Through this, arrangements will be made for up-to-date sports training for a total of 3740 athletes at the district level, 740 at the divisional level and 240 at the state level.
