Nagpur, dt. 28: Minister of Higher and Technical Education Uday Samant appealed to all the dignitaries honored with the Maharashtra State Mahakavi Kalidas Sanskrit Sadhana Award to continue the social work of propagating and disseminating the Sanskrit language.
He was speaking at the launch of the Maharashtra State Mahakavi Kalidas Sanskrit Sadhana Award jointly organized by the Department of Higher Education and Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Ramtek.
MP Dr. Vikas Mahatme, Kripal Tumane, MLA Ashish Jaiswal, Abhijit Vanjari along with Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University Vice Chancellor Pvt. Srinivas Varkhedi, Vice Chancellor of Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University of Ujjain Pvt. Vijaykumar Adi was present on the occasion.
Sanskrit is the mother of all languages. Saying this, Samant said that in order to make this language not limited to a few people but also a language of common people, Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University will not be limited to Ramtek but its sub-centers will be started in Ratnagiri, Pune, Parbhani and Jalgaon. He expressed confidence that the tradition of Mahakavi Kalidasab Sanskrit Sadhana Award, which was started to increase the prevalence of Sanskrit language, would continue uninterrupted.
Marathi University ....!
Sanskrit language is not only useful for learning but also for speaking and using it in daily life. A Sanskrit Language Eloquence Competition will be organized at the university level in the name of Shrikant Jichkar. Also, for Marathi to get the status of 'elite language', it is necessary for all to take initiative together. He also expressed his intention to establish a 'Marathi University' in the state. He assured that the Mahakavi Kalidas Sanskrit Sadhana Award would be distributed at the Kalidas Festival from next year.
In the introduction, Varkhedi informed about the Mahakavi Kalidas Sanskrit Sadhana Award. The awards for the period 2015 to 2020 have been distributed at the ceremony. On this occasion, 48 dignitaries were honored with shawls, coconuts, testimonials and cash of Rs. 25,000.

Manoj Balaji Joshi, Vedchudamani Dattatroy Pandurang Navathe (Ghanpathi), Vishwanath Keshavrao Joshi, Pandit Dattatraya Mahadev Mukhane, Pandit Ravindra Dattatraya Paithane, Pandit Deshik Narayan Kasture have been honored with the Vedmurti award.

Pvt. Dr. Siddharth Yashwant Wakankar, Dr. Srikishore Mishra, Gajanan Laxminarayan Bhatt, Dr. Harshdev Madhav, Pvt. Pushpa Dixit, Anandteerth V. Nagasampige has been honored with the Sanskrit Pandit Award from another state.
But late. Mr. Venkataraman Ramchandra Dixit Shastri was awarded the Ancient Sanskrit Pandit Award (posthumously).
