Shocking changes in the Ladki Bahin scheme: 40 lakh women to be excluded from the scheme, update your e-KYC or benefits will stop!

Mumbai, December 22, 2025 (Special Correspondent): The Maharashtra government's popular 'Chief Minister Ladki Bahin' scheme is now under a major threat. More than 40 lakh beneficiaries of this scheme, which proved to be a game-changer in the assembly and local body elections, are likely to be excluded from the scheme. The reason? The State Women and Child Development Department has warned that if the e-KYC process is not completed, not a single rupee will be received after December 31st.
Why has the relief from November now turned into tension?
In November, a decision was taken to extend the deadline for e-KYC due to natural calamities and other reasons. However, so far only 1.6 lakh women have completed this process. The sword of disqualification now hangs over the remaining 40 lakh beneficiaries. Senior officials in the department said, "This verification is mandatory because of the large number of fraudulent accounts and ineligible beneficiaries. This is necessary to ensure that the assistance reaches only the deserving women."
Fraudulent accounts and misuse by government employees?
The scheme was launched just before the elections and gave a significant advantage to the Mahayuti alliance. But later, cases of fraudulent accounts, government employees taking advantage of the scheme, and a large number of ineligible individuals came to light. Following this, e-KYC was introduced, which is an Aadhaar-based online identity verification. It has also been clarified that there will be only one opportunity to correct any mistakes.
What should the 'Ladki Bahins' do? Only 9 days left!
How to do e-KYC? Go to the official website ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in, link your Aadhaar and update your identity.
Deadline: Until December 31, 2025. Delay will result in the stoppage of installments. Advice: Complete the process immediately, otherwise you may be permanently excluded from the scheme.
Is there a possibility of the state government extending the deadline? That will become clear in the next two weeks. Meanwhile, a wave of anxiety has spread among millions of women, and there are demands for the department to conduct an awareness campaign.
