New Delhi. Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) President Sonia Gandhi on Monday met leaders of Manipur to discuss the situation in the northeastern state. Other leaders including former Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh were involved in this.
Apart from the Manipur Congress delegation, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, party leader Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal also attended the meeting held in Sonia Gandhi's chamber in Parliament.
Besides CLP leader in the assembly Ibobi Singh, state Congress chief and MLA K. Meghchandra Singh, Deputy CLP leader K. Ranjit Singh, party MLA and state unit treasurer T. Lokeshwar Singh called on Sonia Gandhi.
During the meeting, the Congress leaders discussed the situation in the northeastern state, where fresh violence has again broken out in several areas.
At the end of June, Rahul Gandhi had visited Manipur. Whereas, a delegation of 21 Indian MPs visited the conflict-affected state on 29 and 30 July and submitted a memorandum to President Draupadi Murmu seeking his intervention.
