Supreme Court Clarifies Stance on Form-6: ‘Neither Approved nor Rejected’ – Justice Surya Kant
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued a significant clarification regarding Form-6, used for voter registration. A bench comprising Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice V. Mohana stated, "We have neither approved nor rejected the Election Commission's new Form-6."
During the hearing, Justice Surya Kant cautioned against misinterpreting the court's observations. He clarified that the matter has been noted by the court and will be considered alongside the main petition on October 27.
Meanwhile, another petition concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has been tagged with the main petition. Form-6 remains a statutory legal application under the 'Registration of Electors Rules, 1960,' through which any eligible Indian citizen can apply to have their name included in the electoral roll.
