Touching a high-voltage wire proved fatal! Bus catches fire; Father-daughter dies in front of family, 10 others are currently undergoing treatment

Jaipur, October 29, 2025: A horrific accident in the Manoharpur area of ????Jaipur district of Rajasthan has devastated the lives of a family and hundreds of laborers in the area. A private sleeper bus, which was going from Uttar Pradesh to Rajasthan for labor, caught fire after it came into contact with a high-voltage wire. In this accident, a laborer and his daughter in the bus died in front of their family, while 10 others were seriously injured. Since this accident took place on an open road on the Jaipur-Delhi highway, the negligence of the driver and passengers and the lack of road maintenance have once again come to the fore.
How did the accident happen? Detailed Description
On the evening of Tuesday, October 28, 2025, this private sleeper bus left from Sherpur Kalan village in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh to take laborers to a brick kiln in Manoharpur in Jaipur district of Rajasthan. There were more than 50 laborers in the bus, including many families. These laborers come to Rajasthan from Uttar Pradesh every year to work in the brick kiln. While the bus was traveling from Uttar Pradesh to Rajasthan, it was traveling on an unpaved road. At that time, the luggage placed on the roof of the bus touched a high-voltage wire and within a few moments the entire bus was engulfed in fire.
Jaipur Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Tejpal Singh said, "While the bus was traveling on an open road, the luggage placed on the roof touched a high-voltage wire, which caused the fire. This incident is very sad and we are investigating." At the time of the accident, the passengers in the bus were scared after seeing the smoke and flames of the fire. Many people were trying to save their lives by jumping from the windows, but two people lost their lives as the fire spread rapidly. Speaking to Lokmat, Punapur Police Station Superintendent Ashok Kumar said, "At the time of the accident, Naseem Mian's wife and children saw their father and sister burning in the fire in front of their eyes. These scenes are very emotional."
The painful story of the victim's family
The biggest tragedy of this accident is the death of Naseem Mian (50) and his daughter Sanam (20). Naseem Mian had been working at a brick kiln in Manoharpur for the last three years. He was a resident of Sherpur Kalan village in Pilibhit district. On Monday, October 27, Naseem Mian had left for Rajasthan with his family. He was accompanied by his wife Najma, sons Raja and Faizan, and another daughter Shehrun. The family used to come to Rajasthan regularly to work at the brick kiln. Naseem Mian was a labourer and his elder daughter Sanam was accompanying him to help the family.
After the accident, the bodies of Naseem and Sanam were unrecognizable as they were completely burnt. Najma and the other children said, "Before we knew it, the fire broke out. Naseem and Sanam were in the middle of the bus, they couldn't get out. We were screaming, but it was too late for help to arrive." The family's village was in mourning after the accident. Many families from Sherpur Kalan and the surrounding areas go to Rajasthan for labour, and the accident has come as a wake-up call for them.
Condition of the injured and assistance from the administration
Ten people were seriously injured in the accident and have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Most of the injured are labourers, who have suffered serious injuries to their eyes, face and hands and feet. The administration immediately sent a rescue team and took the injured for treatment. The fire brigade was delayed in extinguishing the fire because the accident took place on an open road and there was no water supply. Rajasthan Police have reached the accident site and started an investigation, and a case has been registered against the bus driver and owner. The transport department has also ordered an inquiry into the safety of high-voltage wires on the route.
Labour safety issue: A major concern
This accident is not just about a single bus, but is a symbol of the insecurity faced by labourers in states like Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Every year, thousands of labourers migrate from Uttar Pradesh to Rajasthan for work in brick kilns, construction and agriculture. Private buses are used for this journey, where loading of goods on the roof, overloading and poor roads are common. Despite the Jaipur-Delhi highway being a busy route, the unsecured network of high-voltage wires on the open roads is a major risk. Many labourers like Naseem Mian face such dangers every day, but the administration wakes up only after the accident.
According to experts, to prevent such accidents, buses should be banned from carrying luggage on the roof, high-voltage wires should be at a safe height and roads should be maintained. Labour organisations in Uttar Pradesh have demanded immediate help and safe travel from the government in this case. The sarpanch of Sherpur Kalan village said, "Many people like Naseem go out for work. This accident will shock us, but we will take an oath to ensure safe travel for the labourers."
Police investigation and future measures
The Rajasthan police have started an investigation into the accident and the bus owner has been charged with negligence. The complainant says that loading luggage on the bus is not allowed. The Jaipur district administration has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and has assured free treatment to the injured. This accident is not just a statistic, but a story of a family and the struggle of the labourers. The deaths of Naseem Mian and Sanam are the result of an uncertain journey
