Two 'Akanksha Singhs' claim 301st rank in UPSC, Brahmeshwar Singh's granddaughter in a whirlwind of controversy

Ara/Ghazipur: Date 7 March 2026
A controversy has arisen over the 301st rank in the results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025. Akanksha Singh, grandson of Brahmeshwar Singh (founder of Ranveer Sena) from Ara in Bihar, and Dr. Akanksha Singh from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh have both staked their claim on the same rank and roll number. The controversy has become more complicated due to the copies of the admit card on social media, and now a clarification is awaited from the UPSC.
The success of Akanksha Singh (daughter of Indubhushan Singh) from Ara is being discussed vigorously. When a journalist from Navbharat Times visited her house and spoke to her, she maintained her claim. "All the details are mine," she said and showed two copies of the admit card. The roll number 0856794 is recorded on her card. "Only UPSC can clarify this matter," he believes. While supporters in Bihar are celebrating, in Uttar Pradesh, the hard work of another Akanksha Singh is being appreciated.
On the other hand, Dr. Akanksha Singh (daughter of Ranjit Singh) from Ghazipur shared her interview admit card by posting on Facebook. Her card also has the roll number 0856794. "Some people are taking advantage of my name and position. So I am giving my real identity and a copy of the admit card here. Screenshots of the fraudulent posts have also been attached. Appropriate action should be taken in this matter," he wrote.
The 301st position in the UPSC CSE 2025 merit list is in the name of 'Akanksha Singh'. Akanksha from Ghazipur said about her journey, "After three years of preparation, two attempts and two realizations, today I got the Air 301. This dream from school days, during MBBS and MS at AIIMS Patna, became even stronger. Today is a very happy day. Thank you to those who supported me at every step," she mentioned in an emotional post.
These two contenders have raised questions about the UPSC results process. Now that both sides have submitted their admit cards, we are waiting for an official clarification from the commission. The matter has gone viral on social media and is in the eyes of lakhs of candidates.
