According to eyewitnesses, a sudden, massive wave caused the boat to lose its balance and flip over. Many tourists became trapped underneath the vessel, making it impossible to rescue them in time.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene immediately after the accident. However, rough seas and surging waves made rescue operations extremely difficult. Despite this, the rescue team made tireless efforts and managed to bring 17 people to safety. Fifteen individuals lost their lives.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the tragedy, and the Indian Embassy is on alert to assist those affected. A control room has been established by the Embassy, ??and all possible aid is being provided to the victims' families.
