Vikhroli flyover: Mumbai's traffic will get speed, travel time will be saved by 30 minutes

Mumbai: There is big and good news for Mumbaikars! The flyover near Vikhroli railway station, connecting the eastern and western suburbs, will soon be open for traffic. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) bridge department has completed the main construction of this bridge on time. Currently, the final work of lane marking, traffic island, and traffic signal installation is underway and is likely to be completed in the next two days. The municipal administration has planned to open this bridge as soon as possible in coordination with the traffic police.
Project Features:
The construction of this bridge has been completed under the supervision of the BMC bridge department and under the guidance of Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar within the deadline of May 31, 2025. This flyover will connect Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg (LBS) and the Eastern Express Highway, saving about 30 minutes of travel time for commuters.
Technical details of the bridge:
The total length of this flyover near Vikhroli railway station is 615 meters and width is 12 meters. Out of this, 565 meters have been constructed by the BMC, while the remaining 50 meters have been completed by the Railways. The Railways has installed 7 girders, with a total weight of 655 tons. The girders installed by the BMC weigh 2142 tons and are 24 to 30 meters long. A total of 18 girders have been installed in three phases.
