Virat Kohli retires from Test cricket

Mumbai, May 12, 2025: Former Indian cricket team captain and leading batsman Virat Kohli has announced his retirement from Test cricket. This decision has created a stir in the cricket world and has created an atmosphere of disappointment among fans.
Giving the reason for his retirement, Virat said, "For the last few years, I have been thinking about my game and the team. Now I feel it is time to give a chance to the new generation and focus on my personal life." He thanked the fans and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the success he has achieved in his career.
Virat Kohli made his Test debut in 2011. He has scored more than 10,000 runs in 113 Test matches, including 32 centuries and 31 fifties. Under his leadership, the Indian team won a historic Test series in Australia in 2018-19. He is considered one of the leading players in world cricket due to his aggressive innings and leadership style.
The BCCI has expressed its gratitude for Virat's contribution and respected his decision. "Virat Kohli was a pillar of Indian cricket. His retirement has left a void, but the inspiration he provided will surely inspire new players," BCCI President Roger Binny said.
Although Virat Kohli has retired from Test cricket, he will continue to play ODI and T20 cricket. His fans are now eager to see his performance in the upcoming IPL season.
