The Waqf Bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha at 12 noon tomorrow, there will be 8 hours of discussion, then the government is ready to pass it tomorrow itself.
New Delhi, April 1, 2025: The central government will introduce the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha tomorrow, Wednesday, April 2 at 12 noon. There will be about 8 hours of discussion on this bill, after which the government is preparing to pass this bill tomorrow itself. The decision to approve this bill has been taken in the Business Advisory Committee meeting.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a three-line whip to all its MPs to be present in the Lok Sabha tomorrow. There is a possibility of a heated debate between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition parties on this bill. The opposition had demanded a 12-hour discussion on this bill, but the government has fixed a time of 8 hours.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, "There will be sufficient discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament. If necessary, the discussion time can be extended, but we want to pass this bill tomorrow itself." He also clarified that the bill has the support of many people from the Muslim community and there are misconceptions being spread about it.
The bill proposes some important changes to increase the management, transparency and accountability of Waqf properties. If the bill is passed, it will then be presented in the Rajya Sabha. The current session of Parliament will continue till April 4, giving the government only two days to get the bill passed by both the Houses.
The opposition parties have strongly opposed the bill, and it is not ruled out that it could cause chaos in the Lok Sabha. Meanwhile, all NDA MPs have been directed to be present in Parliament tomorrow morning. The entire country is watching the passage of the bill.
