Nagpur dt. 30: Athletes from across the country perform well at the recent Tokyo Olympics. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Sunil Kedar said that a sports ground in Pune would be set up from October to train players and mentors in the state.
He was speaking at an event organized at the National Sports Day at the Divisional Sports Complex, Mankapur. District Collector Vimala R., Shivchhatrapati Sports Award recipient Ganesh Kohle, Deputy Director Sports and Youth Welfare Shekhar Patil, District Sports Officer Avinash Pund, Taluka Sports Officer Pawan Meshram and other officials were present on the occasion.
International players Gurudas Raut, Divyang players Mrinali Pandey in cricket, Divyang chess player Malvika Bansod, Badminton players Deepika Thakkar, Alphia Pathan, Raunak Sadhwani, Swimming player Jayant Duble, Chess player Sankalp Gupta, Gymnastics Mrinyayi Walde, Ayushi Ghode The players were honored with a memento.
Kedar appealed to the players to make the country famous by maintaining consistency in the game. He also said that the National Youth Festival will be organized in the district from 12 to 19 January 2022. He said that the government is committed to develop well-known players and sports guides from Maharashtra. On the occasion, Kedar distributed practice mats to wrestlers as well as international boxer Alfia Pathan for training.
A webinar was organized by the District Sports Office on the psychological consequences of the Tokyo Olympics.
