World Pride! Ambedkar statue inaugurated at Paris UNESCO, grand honour for Maharashtra government

Paris, November 27, 2025 (Special Correspondent): A historic moment of India's pride at the global level took place on the holy day of Constitution Day. A grand statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was unveiled at the UNESCO headquarters. This statue was gifted to UNESCO by the Maharashtra government, which has given a special honour to the creator of India's Constitution at the international level.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended the event and expressed global pride. "This is a proud moment not only for Maharashtra, but for the entire India. I am grateful for this honour given by UNESCO to spread Babasaheb's thoughts globally," Fadnavis said. UNESCO officials also appreciated the initiative and said that Ambedkar's principles of equality, justice and freedom are an important part of global education.
The event was organized at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris on November 26. Dignitaries, scholars and Ambedkarite activists from across the country were present at the unveiling of the statue. The Maharashtra government has implemented this initiative on the occasion of 'Constitution Day', which has given Babasaheb's legacy a global platform. Notably, this statue has become even more important on the occasion of Ambedkar's birth centenary year.
UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay also participated in the program and stated that "Ambedkar's thoughts paved the way for equality in the world. This statue is in line with UNESCO's values." The Maharashtra government had appointed a special committee for this initiative, which included experts from various fields. It is being said that the principles of the Indian Constitution will now be promoted in UNESCO through this statue.
The Indian government has also welcomed this initiative, and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated Babasaheb on Twitter (X) and wrote, "It is our fortune that Babasaheb gets global respect." This event has inspired millions of people in the country, and this news is being received positively, especially among the Dalit and underprivileged communities.
The Maharashtra government took two years to make this initiative a success. The statue is 10 feet tall and made of bronze. This statue, installed in the park of the UNESCO headquarters, has created a new attraction for tourists and scholars. In the future, there are plans to organize exhibitions and lectures based on Ambedkar's thoughts here.
This historic event has highlighted Maharashtra's role as India's cultural ambassador. It is expected that this initiative, which highlights Ambedkar's legacy at the global level, will continue to be inspiring.
