According to the information received from the police, the name of the victim is Mota Naveen. He belongs to Scheduled Tribe community. The main accused has been identified as Manne Ramanjaneyulu. Two minor boys are among the nine accused. Naveen and Ramanjaneyulu were friends since childhood. He had 50 cases of theft registered against him in Andhra Pradesh and other states.
Called to a deserted place on the pretext of resolving the dispute
Ongole SP Mallika Garg said that there was a dispute between Mota Naveen and a friend of Ramanjaneyulu over a girl. There was a love affair between Mota Naveen and that girl. This was not liked by Ramanjaneyulu and his friend. On the night of June 19 at around 9 pm, Ramanajaneyulu had called Naveen to a secluded place in the name of resolving the dispute. Here both drank alcohol. Thereafter, Ramanajaneyulu and eight others thrashed Naveen. During this, two drunken accused urinated on Naveen.
The accused made a video of the incident
The incident was recorded by one of the nine accused on his mobile phone. Naveen was admitted to the hospital. He did not give details about the incident. Before the police could interrogate Naveen, he left the hospital. The matter came to light after the video was shared on social media. After this the police came into action. The SP said that the video was saved five days ago.
Police arrested six accused
A case has been registered under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Six of the nine accused have been arrested. Two minors were taken into custody. The prime suspect Ramanjaneyulu is on the run. Earlier, in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district, the case of urinating on a tribal laborer had caught fire. The video of this incident went viral.
