Nagpur: Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Wednesday claimed that several legislators from the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are dissatisfied with their respective leaderships and were reportedly in contact with his party.
Speaking to the media in Nagpur, Bawankule, the newly re-elected MLA from Kamptee, stated that many MVA members were frustrated with the lack of support from their parties, citing the absence of strategic meetings and organisational backing for constituency issues. He hinted that the growing discontent could potentially lead to defections. "Several MVA representatives have expressed their concerns to us, and are feeling neglected and unsupported by their party leadership," he said, fuelling speculation of political shifts.
Responding to allegations that BJP is using Central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to target opposition leaders, Bawankule said, "BJP has no role in these investigations. If anyone wants to join us to further support Prime Minister Modi's vision for a developed India, they are welcome," he said.
On the controversial remarks made by BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar about senior NCP leader Sharad Pawar, Bawankule acknowledged the sensitivity of the comments, calling them "inappropriate" and assured that the party would counsel Padalkar accordingly. He emphasised that the BJP, along with its allies in the Mahayuti (Grand Alliance), would remain focused on fulfilling their electoral promises.
