'Heartbreaking...', PM Modi expressed condolences to the victim's family over Jhansi fire incident

New Delhi: 10 children died in a fire at Maharani Laxmibai Medical College in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday night. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over this tragic accident. PM wrote on Twitter, Heartbreaking! The accident caused by fire at Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Pradesh is heart-wrenching. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their innocent children in this. I pray to God to give them strength to bear this immense sorrow. The local administration is engaged in every possible effort for relief and rescue under the supervision of the state government.

President Draupadi Murmu expressed grief over the accident and said that the news of the death of many newborn babies in the accident at Maharani Laxmibai Medical College, Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh is extremely heart-breaking. May God give the bereaved parents and family members the strength to bear this cruel blow. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured babies.
Let us tell you that 10 children died in this incident, while many are injured. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has reached Jhansi with a team of senior officials. The District Magistrate told reporters that according to the information received from the officials present on the spot in the Medical College, a fire broke out in a part of the Neonatal Care Unit (NICU) between 10:30 pm and 10:45 pm, possibly due to a short circuit. He said that almost all the children who were in the outside part have been rescued, but 10 children have been reported dead from the inside part.
