New Delhi: 10 children died in a fire at Maharani Laxmibai Medical College in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday night. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over this tragic accident. PM wrote on Twitter, Heartbreaking! The accident caused by fire at Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Pradesh is heart-wrenching. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their innocent children in this. I pray to God to give them strength to bear this immense sorrow. The local administration is engaged in every possible effort for relief and rescue under the supervision of the state government.

President Draupadi Murmu expressed grief over the accident and said that the news of the death of many newborn babies in the accident at Maharani Laxmibai Medical College, Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh is extremely heart-breaking. He said that almost all the children who were in the outside part have been rescued, but 10 children have been reported dead from the inside part.
