10 Naxalites killed on Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border
-Among these, 3 women, weapons and explosives were also recovered.
Jagdalpur. 10 Naxalites were killed in an encounter with DRG and STF personnel on Tuesday morning in Abujhmad area of Narayanpur on the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border. There are 3 women Maoists among them. The bodies of all these have been recovered. A huge quantity of weapons and explosives, including an AK-47, have been recovered from the spot. It is being told that searching is being done after the encounter.
Police had received information that a large number of Naxalites were present in Takameta area of Abujhmad. Based on this information, the soldiers went out on searching late on Monday night. When the soldiers reached this area on Tuesday morning, the Naxalites started firing as soon as they saw them. Naxalites were killed in retaliation.
Police is trying to identify the slain Naxalites. According to sources, large cadres of Maoists were present here.
29 Naxalites were killed in Kanker encounter on 16 April.
Earlier on April 16, there was an encounter between police and Naxalites in Kanker district for about 5 and a half hours. DRG and BSF soldiers entered the Maoist hideout and killed 29 of their Naxalites. At the time of the encounter, the Naxalites were sitting carefree after having lunch.
