Nagpur 18: A proposal worth Rs 71 crore 84 lakh will soon be approved to run all water supply schemes in the district on solar power, Deputy Chief Minister and District Guardian Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed today.
Mr. Fadnavis under the Jaljeevan Mission program sponsored by the central government, 372 rural water supply schemes in Nagpur district at a cost of 235 crores were done at Gumgaon in Hingana taluka. He was speaking on this occasion. Zilla Parishad Chairperson Mukta Kokde, MLA Chandrasekhar Bawankule, Sameer Meghe, Sunil Kedar, Ashish Jaiswal, Tekchand Savarkar, Joint Police Commissioner Ashwathi Dorje, Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Saumya Sharma were present.
The Deputy Chief Minister said, implementation of water supply schemes on solar energy will lead to utilization of natural energy. Also, there will be no possibility of closure of water supply scheme due to overdue payment of electricity to Gram Panchayat. He said that along with this scheme, solar feeder scheme will be implemented to provide electricity to the farmers during the day.
  Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resolution is to provide drinking water to every household in the village through the 'Har Ghar Jal' scheme. The Central Government has so far made available Rs.578 crore for a total of 1322 water supply schemes approved for Nagpur district. By 2024, an effort is being made to make a 'handa-free' society by providing tap water to every house through the Rural Water Supply Scheme. As guardian minister of Nagpur, we will try to take the district towards progress, he said.

Out of the total 372 water supply schemes laid today, Panchayat Samiti Katol 39, Narkhed 19, Ramtek 45, Parshivani 40, Kalameshwar 33, Savner 55, Bhiwapur 21, Umred 19, Kuhi 25, Mauda 27, Hingna 29, Kamthi 2 and Nagpur rural 18 schemes. is included. Soumya Sharma informed that the total budgeted cost of all these schemes is 235 crores 34 lakhs.
