Anti-Naxal operation a big success: 22 Naxalites including notorious commander Ramdhar Maji surrender

Raipur/Bhopal, December 8, 2025: The anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh has achieved remarkable success in two consecutive days. A total of 22 notorious Naxalites have surrendered, including the Central Committee Member (CCM) and Naxal commander Ramdhar Maji, who carries a reward of Rs 1 crore. With this surrender, the MMC zone of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh has been declared Naxal-free. Some remaining local Naxalites are also expected to surrender soon.
This success was achieved due to the operation led by the Special Security Advisor and Director General of Police in Chhattisgarh. Among those who surrendered, 12 Naxalites from Chhattisgarh and 10 Naxalites from Madhya Pradesh were included. These 10 Naxalites from Madhya Pradesh had a total reward of Rs 2.36 crore on their heads. A large cache of weapons including AK-47, 30 carbines, INSAS, .303 rifles and SLR rifles were recovered from the Naxalites during the surrender.
Ramdhar Maji is a member of the Central Committee of the CPI (Maoist) and was a notorious leader like Hidma. Hidma (Naxal leader) was recently killed in an encounter in the Marredumilli forest of Alluri Sitaram Raju district of Andhra Pradesh on November 18, 2025. His wife Rajesh and three associates were also killed. Hidma was the mastermind behind 26 major attacks.
Those who surrendered from Chhattisgarh include Chandu Usendi (DVCM), Lalita (DVCM), Janaki (DVCM), Prem (DVCM), Ramsingh Dada (ACM), Sukesh Pottam (ACM), Lakshmi (PM), Shaila (PM), Sagar (PM), Kavita (PM) and Yogita (PM).
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, while participating in the surrender ceremony held in Bhopal, said, "Today is an important day for the Balaghat Police and the entire security forces. I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister for their guidance. Our police have shown full commitment to force the surrender of Naxalites or eliminate them by 2026."
This success has strengthened the central government's policy of tackling the root causes of Naxalism. It is believed that complete cessation of Naxal activities in the MMC zone will accelerate development and peace in the area. Police said that local Naxalites in the remaining districts will soon be brought into the mainstream.
