CBI claims- It was the police who left the women among the crowd
-Case of two women roaming naked in Manipur
New Delhi. Last year, amid violence in Manipur, two women from the Kuki-Jo community were stripped and paraded naked. The video of this incident which took place in May went viral on social media in July. CBI has filed a charge sheet in this case. The chargesheet claims that Manipur Police officials had brought these women to Kangpokpi district among 1000 Meitei protesters.
It has been said in the charge sheet that these women had sought shelter in the police vehicle. But, the police left both the women among the crowd, after which the mob stripped them and paraded them and then sexually assaulted them. One of these women was the wife of a soldier who had fought in the Kargil war.
Officials giving information about the charge sheet said that the women had sought help from the policemen to take them to a safe place, but the policemen told the women that they did not have the keys of the car. The police did not provide any help to the women.
The women had asked the police for help in taking them to a safe place.
According to the charge sheet, this mob had forcefully entered the women's village in Kangpokpi district. Both the women along with several victims ran towards the forest to escape the mob, but the mob saw them. Some people in the crowd asked the women to approach the police vehicle parked on the roadside and ask for help.
Somehow the women reached the police car and sat inside it. Even after this, the driver and two policemen remained sitting peacefully in the car. Three-four policemen were standing outside the car. A male victim was also sitting in the police car along with these women. He folded hands and asked the policemen to take them to a safe place, but the policemen replied that they did not have the keys to the car. The police parked the jeep amidst the crowd and left from there.
The police also allowed the father of the man sitting in the car to be tortured by the mob. After this, the driver of the police gypsy turned the car towards the crowd of 1000 people and stopped the car in front of them. The policemen parked the jeep amidst the crowd and left from there.
By then the mob had killed the father of the male victim sitting in the jeep. After this the crowd came towards the jeep. People pulled the women out of the jeep, stripped them and paraded them around in the same condition. After this they raped her.
