Complete the works of Ambazari dam immediately - Vijayalakshmi Bidari
Nagpur, Dt. 27: Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidri directed to complete the construction of both bridges, earth embankment strengthening works, demolition of the remaining two bridges at Crazy Castle and cleaning of the river and drains in the area by the first fortnight of June.
For strengthening of Ambazari Dam, a meeting of the High Level Committee chaired by the Divisional Commissioner was held at the Divisional Commissioner's Office. This time he made these instructions.
The meeting was attended by member secretary of the committee and municipal commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary through television system, member collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, Superintending Engineer JH Bhanuse, Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department PK Pawar, Municipal Superintending Engineer Shweta Banerjee, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kulkarni along with Maha Metrorail, Nagpur Improvement Trust, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Public Works Department, Disaster Management Cell etc. Department officials were present on the occasion.
A high level committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari to implement the orders of the Nagpur Bench of the High Court. For the strengthening of Ambazari Dam, short and long term measures are being taken by the committee through the coordination of various government agencies. Under this, the work of constructing a new bridge is going on to properly carry the discharge flowing from the Ambazari dam, Mrs. Bidri instructed to complete this work in time and also take up the construction of another bridge. While doing these works, he also directed the Public Works Department and Mahavitran to complete the works of power lines and take appropriate measures in terms of traffic here.
Around 64 percent of the works under various remedial schemes have been completed in the Crazy Castle area. A total of 8 bridges have been taken up here and so far 6 bridges have been demolished. He directed to break the remaining 2 bridges before the first fortnight of June and also gave instructions to speedily complete the work of deepening and widening of Nag river in this area. Instructions were given on this occasion to complete the earth dam strengthening work under the strengthening of Ambazari Dam. On this occasion, orders were given to the agencies to complete the trimming of dangerous trees on the roads of the city and the cleaning of rivers and canals within the scheduled time. The issue of shifting the statue of Swami Vivekananda in the area of Ambazari Dam was also discussed.
The progress of strengthening works of Ambazari Dam is being regularly reviewed and progress reports of these works are being submitted to the High Court regularly by the committee.
