Dr. Sudhir Bhagat, who fought for the Pali language until his last breath, passes away

Veteran warrior of the Ambedkarite movement, Dr. Sudhir Bhagat, is no more
Dr. Sudhir Janardan Bhagat, a veteran Ambedkarite activist who spent his life campaigning for the inclusion of Pali—considered one of India's oldest languages—in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, passed away on Sunday night. He was 70 years old.
Dr. Bhagat is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, grandchildren, and an extended family. His passing has cast a pall of gloom over the Ambedkarite, social, and cultural spheres.
Known as a dedicated and conscientious officer, Dr. Bhagat also made significant contributions to the fields of literature and music. He was renowned as a poet, lyricist, singer, and composer. He furthered the cause of social awakening by creating inspiring songs such as "Dnyansurya Is Jagat Ka, Bhimrao Mahan..."
While actively participating in the movement for social change, he inspired thousands of activists through his writing, songs, and work. He consistently raised his voice advocating for constitutional recognition of the Pali language. Sentiments expressed across various quarters reflect that, with his passing, the Ambedkarite movement has lost a scholarly, sensitive, and spirited activist.
