First patient of HMPV in Bengaluru, guidelines issued by the health department to prevent the disease

HPMV:-The dangerous virus from China has also reached India. The first patient of HMPV has been found in Bengaluru. Currently, the HMPV virus is spreading very fast in China and this disease has taken a toll on that country. The situation has worsened in many areas and the infection is spreading rapidly among the elderly and young children. Emergency has been declared in many states. But now this virus has started spreading in India too. An 8-month-old child in Bengaluru has been infected with the dangerous virus HMPV and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. There is an atmosphere of concern due to the entry of this virus in India too.
Meanwhile, health authorities in Delhi have issued some guidelines to prevent the disease to deal with HMPV and other potential challenges related to respiratory infections. Some guidelines were issued after a meeting held on Sunday. According to the information received, Director General (Health Services) Dr. Vandana Bagga held a meeting with the Chief District Medical Officers and State Programme Officers of IDSP on Sunday. The preparedness to deal with respiratory diseases in Delhi was discussed during this meeting.
HMPV can emerge as a major disease and a large number of people can be infected with it in the coming days. There is no medicine or vaccine for this disease yet. Therefore, to prevent its increasing impact, the Delhi government has issued necessary guidelines for this, showing caution to prevent its further spread in India.
What are the instructions?
As per the recommendations of this meeting, hospitals have been instructed to immediately report any case of Influenza-like illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) through the IHIP (Integrated Health Information Platform) portal. If any suspected patient is found, strict steps should be taken and quarantined and appropriate precautions should be taken. People who are having difficulty breathing or are suspected patients should be kept in isolation. It is also mandatory to document patients suffering from acute respiratory infections. It is necessary to document the person who has them.

It has also been instructed that all hospitals must have the necessary medicines to combat this virus. It is understood that these include oxygen, bronchodilators, paracetamol, antihistamines and cough syrup.
