Ayodhya: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has given a clean chit to Champat Rai and Anil Mishra in the Ram Mandir donation theft case.
Ayodhya: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted by the Uttar Pradesh Home Department to probe the donation theft case at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, has submitted its report. The names of the temple's former General Secretary, Champat Rai, and Trust member Anil Mishra do not figure in the report; they have received significant relief in this matter.
The SIT has named only eight individuals as accused. These include Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava, and Ramashankar Yadav (alias Tinnu).
Following the commencement of the investigation, Champat Rai and Anil Mishra had resigned from their posts. Since resigning, Champat Rai has undertaken a four-month 'Chaturmas' spiritual observance in Ayodhya. He will remain in Ayodhya until November 21, chanting the Ram Mantra and reciting the Ramcharitmanas. He observes silence for six hours daily as part of his spiritual practice. He has been living in seclusion at the Tirtha Kshetra Bhavan in Ramkot since June 7.
Meanwhile, the selection process for the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust is in its final stages. A final panel of three names has been prepared following the completion of interviews. According to sources, two prominent Uttar Pradesh officials—Yogeshwar Ram Mishra and Rajesh Pandey—are the leading contenders in the race.
