Former AIADMK MP Maitreyan Returned to BJP after 23 years

Chennai. Former Rajya Sabha member V. Maitreyan, who was expelled from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) last year, on Friday returned to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after 23 years. He joined the BJP here in the presence of party general secretaries Arun Singh and CT Ravi. Along with this, he claimed that the 'lotus' will blossom in the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year and the Tamil Nadu assembly elections to be held in 2026. Lotus is the election symbol of BJP.
Maitreyan had joined the AIADMK in the year 2000. Earlier he was in BJP. In AIADMK, he was supported by party leader and former Chief Minister J. Considered a close aide of Jayalalithaa. It was Jayalalithaa who nominated him as a member of the Rajya Sabha thrice. However, after his death, E.K. Palaniswami had expelled him last year for 'anti-party activities'.
